PassPrediction is built on outstanding open data and open-source software. We gratefully acknowledge the following sources and projects.

Orbital data — CelesTrak & Space-Track.org

Two-line element sets (TLEs) and satellite-catalog data are sourced from CelesTrak (Dr. T.S. Kelso) and Space-Track.org, operated by the United States Space Force 18th Space Defense Squadron, and used in accordance with their respective terms of use.

Weather data — Open-Meteo

Cloud-cover forecasts and climatology are provided by Open-Meteo.com, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Weather data by Open-Meteo.com.

Basemaps — OpenStreetMap, CARTO, Esri, OpenTopoMap & Natural Earth

Map tiles © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), with basemap styles by CARTO, Esri World Imagery and OpenTopoMap (CC BY-SA). Country boundaries from Natural Earth (public domain).

Mapping & 3D rendering

Interactive maps render with MapLibre GL JS (BSD-3-Clause) and deck.gl (MIT, OpenJS Foundation). The 3D globe uses CesiumJS (Apache 2.0).

Orbital propagation

Satellite positions are computed with the SGP4 model via Skyfield (MIT) on the server and satellite.js (MIT) in the browser.

Application framework

Built with Next.js and React (MIT) and Django (BSD-3-Clause).
